WHere Visionaries Come & Take Action
VISION
The vision of the NAACP is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.
Objectives
To ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens
To achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States
To remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes
To seek enactment and enforcement of federal, state and local laws securing civil rights
To inform the public of adverse effects of racial discrimination and to seek its elimination
To educate persons as to their constitutional rights and to take all lawful action to secure the exercise thereof, and to take any other lawful action in furtherance of these objectives, consistent with the NAACP’s Articles of Incorporation and its Constitution.
MISSION
Our mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.
TAKE Action
We must continue to mobilize millions to ensure consistently high turnouts at public elections. We know that if people of color and specifically black citizens participate in holding public office at the same rate as white citizens have we would have a progressive majority. Black citizens are skeptical of the political establishment, unhappy with the limited choices of candidates, frustrated with structural and institutional racism, slow job growth, no wage growth, the rising costs of health care, the rising cost of college tuition, the rising cost of housing and disturbed about police brutality and violence in our communities.
At the NAACP Michigan State Conference, we can address many of these issues by electing the right individuals, and passing the right legislation. Our lives thrive on it!
